segment is a technical tool that lets developers manage data generated in cloud based services the software helps collect customer data and pushes organized information to analytics tools like mixpanel and google analytics what can you do with segment in custify enrich your people or company attributes in custify with data from segment sources build segments of customers based on imported data or from tracked events pushed from segment (e g , “clicked the upgrade button”) define lifecycle stages based on the tracked events keep them on target by assigning tasks and alerts to csms build playbooks based on the identified personas and tracked events activation sign in to your custify account and navigate to settings > integrations section click on segment > view on segment > search for “custify” in the catalog and select it choose which of your segment sources you want to connect to custify enter the api key from custify in your segment settings ui the api key can be found in the settings > developer > api access area observation segment is not sending company only events, only people events people’s events will bubble up to the company account, so you will still see activity on the company level segment can also assign companies to other companies (parent child relationship) requirements the parent company has to be created first the child company contains a trait called that id matches what the company id of the parent that we have in custify already (so what was sent as group id in the group call of the parent)
